I’ve been baking for my dog, Daisy, for years. This allowed me to know exactly what was going into her dog treats and to manage her intolerance to some ingredients. It also helped me to avoid additives, artificial colours and preservatives which are found in most commercial dog treats. She loved them (and still does). In fact, all of our recipes are “Daisy tested and approved.”

In 2006, I developed my own special garlic powder blend incorporating kelp, wheat germ and brewers yeast for the treats I was baking for Daisy. After discussing my passion for reputable dog food products with a friend, I got thinking: “There are probably other people who feel the same way about what they feed their dog. I’ll go public!” Canine Catering was launched in July 2007.
In October 2009, I added canine therapeutic massage to the company practice after training in the United States. In December 2009, I completed study in Pet Nutrition through Colorado State University achieving an A – the highest mark awarded. I have also pledged to pursue other, continuing education to keep my skills fresh and up-to-date.
I use the term ‘catering’ in my business because we are not into mass production. Batches of treats are carefully made by hand for quality control. We have special products like doggy birthday cakes that we can make to order and we always offer special packaging for Christmas. Most of all, I will work with individual owners, breeders and vets to develop recipes that meet the needs of dogs with special diets and preferences. No other company making dog treats in New Zealand offers this option and we are the original niche baker of dog treats (accept no imitations)!
Our cut treats are normally supplied in bone shapes of 8 cm. We can also make our recipes in a 4.5 cm bone shape or a 3 cm heart shape. Any flavour with this symbol
next to it means that the treat can be cut into the shape of your choice.
All of our treats are made using first quality ingredients including SPCA approved eggs and no preservatives. We source our honey from a local supplier, Ellesmere Apiaries. We will not use peanut butter that is Made in China.
| Because we care about dogs and their health, we aim to keep our prices low and competitive. We only deal with a selected range of outlets that share our philosophy that the dogs come first. Keeping our products within reach of most New Zealanders is important to us. Doesn’t your dog deserve the best? Try Canine Catering today! Best wishes, Kathleen Crisley, CTMT, MNZIM Christchurch, New Zealand
